11/01/09 BRISTOL CITY V WOLVES - SAT 17TH JAN - KO 5:20 As you probably know Shrewsbury Wolves has struggled to find an appropriate venue this season due to our games being shown at the same time as live Setana games, meaning that many pubs opt for the more 'popular' game. The Dun Cow in Shrewsbury is one of the few unique pubs that show both the Sky Sports and Setanta games. However the landlord often opts to put the Setanta game on the larger of the two plasma screens, we aim to change this by showing the pub landlord that Shrewsbury Wolves can consistantly bring large numbers of supporters to watch live Wolves games, making the choice very easy for him to make sure that our game is the main match at the pub. In order to do this we will need to inform the landlord of how many fans to expect, so can I please ask anyone that is interested in joining us to watch the game gets in touch by Thursday 15th January by emailing info@shrewsburywolves.co.uk Get there early, join in the atmosphere... Wear your colours with pride. For further details about the venue and how to get there please click here. |

03/04/08 "A statement and apology from Shrewsbury Wolves... In the modern, global age of English football, it is often those below the greedy, filthy-rich Premiership who suffer most. Who can forget the collapse of ITV digital which ruined many a football league club while the Premier League looked down with little sympathy. Now a new enemy is on the scene, going by the name of Setanta Sports. Shrewsbury Wolves have suffered twice already this season at the hands of this amateurish broadcasting oufit. Last season we enjoyed memorable occasions at the Beacon, where we watched live away games in comfortable surroundings and amongst old and new friends. All was good with the world. Now, sadly this opportunity has been taken from us by Setanta, who show a Greed League game at the same time as Sky broadcast their live Championship match. Sadly, our home of last season has taken the decision on both occasions that Wolves have featured on the Sky show, to broadcast the Setanta offering from "the best league in the world(TM)", and although very annoying, it is understandable given the large volume of plastic Manchester United and Liverpool fans who need to learn the names of their players so that they can act knowledgable to their friends at work and therefore go to the pub to see the team they 'support' play at home. This has left us somewhat in limbo until a venue is found which will snub the glory hunters in favour of us. We apologise to anyone who has visited the Beacon for either of the recent games in the hope of finding us there. A mass email and text message was sent to as many members as possible. We had a thoroughly entertaining experience for the Watford game after being told the Beacon wont show the match, the Charles Darwin in Sutton Farm agreed that we could watch it there. After 20 minutes they decided to change the channel to the Liverpool game on the say-so of a load of Shrewsbury Town fans who had just seen their shower get beat, and so we missed the next 20 minutes while we drove to a house with Sky. This is the fight we now face! If you know of a pub and a landlord who will reliably agree to take in the 20-30 (and now hopefully more) members we enjoyed having last season, and commit to showing Wolves despite the pressure from the plastics, then please let us know. Again, we apologise profusely for not being able to get-together for the two recent games. It is sad to think that we missed out on the atmosphere we would have created when Karl Henry netted the winner against Charlton. Instead we were spread out in our homes and various other places when we should have enjoyed the moment together! We'll do what we can to make sure it doesnt happen again.". |

20/07/07 SKY LINE UP IS A DISAPPOINTMENT The recently published SKY Sports live football fixture list has been greeted with disappointment by Shrewsbury Wolves, with Wanderers featuring just once between the start of the season and November 25th – the opening game at Molineux vs. Watford. This means there will be no SW meetings until after November. However, should anything change and Wolves do feature in an away fixture live on TV, SW will be at The Beacon as always. | |
